Transit users in Whistler will see more frequent buses and longer service hours this spring, as BC Transit rolls out 6,000 additional annual service hours across several key routes.
The improvements will take effect on April 22 on routes such as 21 Spring Creek, 31 Alpine, and 32 Emerald. BC Transit says the improvements aim to reduce seasonal gaps in service and provide more consistent year-round transit access.
The expansion is being funded through a partnership between the provincial government, BC Transit, and local authorities. According to Transportation Minister Mike Farnworth, the added service is intended to make public transit more convenient and reliable.
“Expanding transit service in Whistler is an important step toward a more connected, equitable local economy and community,” said Valeriote, interim leader of the BC Greens and MLA for West Vancouver–Sea to Sky. “More service hours and improvements to key routes mean better access to convenient, reliable, affordable transportation, and less road congestion. I’m pleased that this expansion will continue to improve public transit options for Whistler.”
The Whistler upgrade is part of a push to expand transit service in communities across British Columbia, the Province said in a press release.
