The much-anticipated Whistler Pride and Ski Festival has returned for its 32nd year, delivering a week of vibrant festivities and celebrations of diversity and inclusion from January 19-26.
This year’s community-wide festival features a variety of events and experiences, including daily guided tours of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, and the popular Whistler Pride Charity Ski Race on Blackcomb Mountain on January 23, from 1-2:30 pm, Vail Resorts said in a press release.
On Friday, January 24, one of the festival’s highlights will take place on Whistler Mountain: the annual Pride Parade Ski-Out. Festivities kick off at 1:30 pm at Olympic Station, with music by DJ Nat Morell, followed by the main event – a performance by Vancouver drag artists Hazel, Madam Lola Colby, and Nara.
The parade itself starts at 3:30 pm, with skiers and snowboarders making their way from Olympic Station to Skiers Plaza before proceeding through the Village and ending at the Whistler Conference Centre.
Belinda Trembath, VP & COO of Whistler Blackcomb, will open the on-mountain festivities with welcoming remarks, alongside Sunil Sinha, Director of the Whistler Pride and Ski Festival. Whistler Mayor Jack Crompton will also deliver an official proclamation.
“The Whistler Pride and Ski Festival continues to be a signature event in the Whistler community, celebrating diversity, inclusion, and winter sports,” Whistler Blackcomb said.
