The Village of Pemberton has announced that the One Mile Lake Park Main Beach and lawn area will undergo a much-needed makeover this spring. The project, which will begin the week of April 8th, will enhance the public beach area to make it more enjoyable for everyone to use.
The revitalization project will include drainage improvements to create a more pleasant park experience, fresh sand at the beach for the sunny days ahead, and aeration, top dressing, and reseeding of the grass area to ensure lush greenery for picnics and play.
The lawn area will be closed for approximately one month, from April 8th to May 8th, with intermittent disruptions on the beach and parking area. This timeline accounts for our green spaces’ physical work and the necessary growing and recovery period. Please note that weather conditions may influence this schedule.
During this time, the Village of Pemberton team will try to minimize disruptions by fencing off the beach and grassed area while keeping access to the boardwalk, trails, and docks available. Despite the temporary closure of the lawn area, visitors will still be able to enjoy the park’s amenities.
Meanwhile, Spel’kúmtn Community Forest and Líl’wat Forestry Ventures, through funding from the Forest Enhancement Society of BC, have been conducting fuel thinning work in the One Mile Lake area. The project encompasses high-hazard forest land and is part of ongoing work to reduce risk to nearby residences, infrastructure, and downtown Pemberton.
